Yesterday, I installed my new power steering pump, high pressure and return hoses on Smokey. I went thru the fill, bleed air drill and had a good working system. However I was a tad low on Power Steering Fluid.

I broke open a Brand Spanking New quart bottle of NAPA Power Steering fluid. I broke the cap tamper proof seal and cut out the inner bottle cap seal. I know this without question was virgin and not tampered with. I only needed a little so I used my turkey baster to suck up a bulb full of the PS Fluid. In 55 years of mess'n with vehicles, I have always seen CLEAR power steering fluid. The stuff in the bottle was the typical green/blue look of regular engine oil. I dumped the stuff in my waste oil drum. Opened a second new bottle.....it was CLEAR as expected.

Somehow this one bottle was mis-marked or mis-filled with the wrong, who knows what product. Had I just poured it in, who knows what the effect would be on the PS Pump, Seals and Hoses. I share this as a word of caution, be careful what you pour in your truck. We know power steering fluid and brake fluid are clear. That is easy to detect. Other products might not be easy to see.

Smokey is getting closer. Now has power steering, hydroboost and sweet brakes
