I called the guy last evening. The "tank" truck really is an old oil tank that they cut one side off of and mounted somehow to the back of the truck, so the top of the "tank" is open - don't get any hopes up of a cheap way to transport offroad diesel, etc.! I can't recall his reason for why this was done now. That truck is the 48 and is still 6 volt, though I think he said they "converted" it to 8 volt, maybe. In any case, that truck was purchased by the guys father or grandfather new in 48. Both trucks were used as plow trucks by the present owner(s) and the 48 was basically put away 20 years ago. The 63 is the same basic story though the guy states that it should start right up and run. Reason for both more or less being parked is that they had purchased more modern trucks over the years to use and these kind of got forgotten/parked in the garage. Oh yes, he said the 63 had been a fire department's brush truck prior to their purchasing it about ?10 years ago. So, there is some information....wish they were closer so I could go take a look (my wife is happy they are far away)....I guess all in all the guy wasn't all that informative, I suggested he post them on the site here. Also said he had a 46 that was pretty rusty and was parked outside.
