By your description, wouldnt putting the gap at the valve make for better balance? The valve would be at the gap, offsetting the weight missing in the gap. I realize this is highly theoretical, based on these rims, as well as the tires we put on them. Mark Mengele pulled a weight off one of Dave Horvaths tires that was 12 ounces if I remember. No valve stem on one of these tires ever weighed anywhere near that, even if you filled it up with lead!
But, I am NOT a professional tire man so I have no business even thinking about tires.
