Ed, It's one of those things that is just like it looks, no easy way out. drain fluid first(very small plug on back side bottom of diff), pull other axle, then remove carrier. it's a good idea to pull your floor jack up close to carrier when you pull it out. it weighs a bunch and it's not fun to have one fall in your lap!! on the axle end, if you have a welder it's best to weld a bolt of some kind to the axle end in the carrier. (it may fall out but it's unlikey) DO NOT ground to the carrier!!! put the ground on the BOLT. if you ground on the carrier it will go thru your bearings and ruin them. I use a 1/4 bolt 4" inches long, cut the head off and the threaded end will fit your slide hammer. there's no big deal here just heavy and dirty. good luck with it, Dave.
