I'm not sure I understand your description. Are you having trouble getting the cable drum off of the drum shaft? If so, try supporting the drum in a vertical position with a couple of 2x4s on each side. With a block of wood protecting the end of the shaft, try to drive the shaft through the cable drum. When it goes, it might go all at once, so have something positioned under to catch it. (soften the landing). JH
