I weld pipe for a living. Been doing for 20 years. I can't use an auto-hood. My lens is a shade #13.and most autos don't go that dark. I use a Fiber-metal #110 pipeliner hood. Its small for tight spots. As for as a flash, I got one in my life, and its was the most painfull thing. It didn't feel like sand in my eyes, it felt like glass. And the only thing to do in a bad case is get to the doctor and he will numb your eyes and give you some pain killers. There is no home cure for this, trust me on this. The only good thing it last about a day. Also cover all exposed skin.
