I have used my '3M Speedglas Series 9000' since 2001. I have burned a LOT of wire building the old iron. I have never been flashed by a slow response time. 3M Speedglas auto dark helmets are not cheap, but my eyes are worth it. There are probably other good auto dark helmets on the market, I cant comment on them as I only use my 3M Speedglas.

This link has good prices. Even Speedglas has lower priced models. I suggest staying with the series 9000.
