There are a lot of differences between the 6.7 and the 5.9. The whole gear drive system was moved from the front to the back of the engine, plus all the modifications to meet new environmental requiements. Chances are the new one is evolved from the old one (scale up the drawing, cut and paste a few parts, I'm oversimplifying of course) but it's not simply a bored and stroked version of the 5.9.

From what I've seen the replacement for the 3.9 is the 4.5L QSB motor. Supposedly Charles Talbert at M-series is in the process of trying to install one in a PW.
