You can use a dowel to do the job. You have to leave the pressure plate loose, move the disc where you need it and tighten up the bolts. When you put the trans in, sometimes you have to loosen it to allow the splines to line up. If you had an old input shaft that is the best. All the storebought tools do is the same as a dowel.
