I just bought my first PW today! Wow, what an adventure it was to retrieve this beast. I've got a good story to tell (isn't this always the case?), however, I'm way too tired at the moment to go into it. The punch line is....43 mph max. speed towing this thing home with my 1/2 ton pickup...for 120 miles. It would severly start dancing at any speed above that. I bet you've "been there, done that"...LOL! (Oh no. Maybe I'm the only fool who's ever done this before).
What a neat truck. It ain't perfect, but I've seen much worse.
The bad points: no winch
highly patched up running boards
rats have eaten up the seat covering (I know it was a rat. You
should have seen that sucker run when we started moving the truck
onto the trailer! Also, his doo-doo was all over the seat springs)
wiper motors and covers are missing
glass is all bad (no biggy)
The good points: pretty much a complete truck
engine is not locked up and has antifreeze
engine compartment is not all rigged up...looks original
no rust through as far as I can tell , just surface rust
My present goal for this truck is to get it running and as mechanically sound as possible/practical. I really don't want to paint it up all pretty and fancy dancy, at least at this time. It would be great fun to just use the truck for a while and not worry about
scratching the paint.
