I have a '48 PW with factory 4.89 gears and the small lockring wheels (7.50-16 tires). The wheels are stamped with a "'48" so I know they are original to the truck. Hence, while you are out snooping around for PW's If you find one that has narrow lockrings and is stamped the same year of the truck, you probably have 4.89 gears. Be it known that I dont like the 4.89's and prefer the 5.83's. It unfortunatly is not safe to put the 900-16 tires on the small lockring wheels so I am looking for a set of wide lockring wheels to replace them.
