My guess is, the tach setup came out of something with a Detroit diesel. Some tanks and other heavy military equipment came with them. If so then the tach would have been run from one of the accessory drive gears, probably on the back of the motor. The drives like the cam on a gas engine only moves 1/2 speed of the crank.I know of no flat 6 that came with a tach drive, maybe someone else does.Later Mopar Performance race distributors did. But being all V8.
