Exception was three XM195's which had 251's.

This was a US made variant of the M37. It had a 100" wheelbase, 12" shorter than the M37. The body was one piece - cab and cargo area. It looked kinda like a Land Rover on steroids. There are two photos of it in Fred Crismon's book "US Military Wheeled Vehicles" under the 3/4 ton 4x4 section and in the gun chassis section with a 105mm recoilless rifle (105, not 106). The wheel track was 52" and later increased to 56". Only three were built.

This was designed at the request of the Infantry who wanted a lighter vehicle than the M37. The officer who was behind this project was transfered, and his replacements did not understand the concept and rejected it as being too light and too small a cargo area. It was in reality a super Jeep.

Supposedly one still exists. If anyone has photos of the XM195, particularly the interior and right side, I'd appreciate copies.
