There are different combinations used for the different applications. I think a guy could get lucky if he had the right stuff in his junk pile. There's 14,15,16 tooth pinions, and 4&5 tooth gears in flat fenders.
A 5 tooth gear and a 16t pinion, or a 4t gear and a 13t pinion would help my system, with 5.83 and 1100 XZLs.
