When I got my 540(I believe it came out of a Mexican D600 with a Perkins) it was direct and as I recall the guy I got it from said he swapped 4th and 5th gears which turned it into od. Is this possible or maybe he meant he took some gears out of another box and set it up for od. Mine has pto mounting on both sides.
