I was kinda prepared for those comments. Iīm not looking for the horsepower and had no idea it had that much power, and figured since it came in a one ton rated truck it would be suitable. The issue here is fuel economy and diesel has always been cheaper than gasoline plus the diesel gets better mileage. The truck is a 1990 model(I thought it was older). Not sure what kind of mileage the 7.3 gets though. The old fellow I got it from had a chevy wrecker with a 400, he claims the 7.3 bus gets 3 times the mileage, plus gasoline is almost $4 a gal. here(what a joke). I do have the 540 np od. It really sucks there isnīt a decent priced fuel for these trucks and their original motors, and one is almost economically forced into an expensive noisy sluggish heavy diesel motor. Other than that the bus runs pretty good and doesnīt impress one that it has that kind of power and just seem to noisly chug down the road. When the time comes selling and buying a cummins or flathead or maybe 318 is also an option. Given the price of fuel here I should just make moonshine.
