I think the average skilled labor pay then was about 1 to 2 bucks a day. so if 2 bucks then things have only gone up maybe 10 times or more depending on the state. but even at 20 times still a spendy piece of equipment. Also no one paid no income tax then so more cash was around for big purchases. Look at how much the Dodge brothers poured back into michingan by way of Theaters, museums etc. you can do that when you dont pay taxes!
