So you buy this old truck from some old guy who drove it very easy for the last 200,000 miles. Runs good, uses little oil. But soon after the new owner starts riving it, it smoke, leaks, and blows oil out the dipstick. Wha happnd?

Al that low speed driving left a ridge in the cylinders. Once a new driver revs it more, the pistons tend use their momentum to extend themselves to the upper limits of the slack worn into the rod bearings. This allows the top rings to hit the ridge. This breaks the rings and/or the piston 'lands', the part of the piston between the rings. It's called "ring landed". Nothing to do with crop circles. ;)
