It's less tiring, and probably safer, to use a good sharp axe or a little 14" chainsaw that you can handle one-handed for limbing, and keep the big saw for bucking and slabbing. I've done my share of walking on top of a log and limbing with the the 26" stihl, but the saw is heavy, the gyro effect is significant, the footing is poor (I don't have caulks) and the blade is zipping around too close to my feet for comfort. The only advantage of limbing with the big saw is that you can reach the limbs without bending over. I also don't like the fact that it's very hard to cut them off flush that way unless they happen to be parallel to the ground. An axe for most trees, or the little pruning saw with those that have lots of big hard limbs, like a lodgepole pine that grew out in the open, is my preferred way to limb. I know the pros do it all with one saw, but they're pros, they're strong, and they're paid for production.
