I've never noticed a curve or rubbing. I will look at mine when I get home. Your situation doesn't sound right to me. Have you field-stripped and cleaned it? No gunk in the gas cylinder? Sometimes the bolt doesn't go forward after putting a clip in unless you give it a solid pull back or "encourage" it a bit. That seems to be okay because they always cycle okay when fired. I'm not familiar with heavier springs. Is there some reason why it has non-standard springs? When you pull the lever backwards by hand, using as much force as it takes to overcome the spring pressure, does it load another round? In other words, is it just spring pressure that keeps it from going far enough back or is it hanging up on something else? Do you have to normal springs you can try? The Garand's a pretty rugged rifle, not prone to getting jammed like an M16, but I always wonder how that very complicated operating rod avoids getting bent.
