Engine Pre-lube

I am getting reading to start my 230ci for its first test run since a complete overhaul. However, I will need to pre-lube the engine and have seen the "Engine Pre-Luber" in the best of the forum section. But this only tells you how to build the pre-luber. Where do you connect it to the engine? Where the oil filter is connected? Does the oil pump need to be primed as well? Any advice are check list for starting a newly overhauled engine would be greatly appricated. Thanks!
