I ahve always run NOS pinion seals. I have never had one leak. they are a tougher desing than modern replacements. Very thick steel. new seals are very thin. easily dented by rocks or other debris offroad. Or you can run the modern type seals and by the pinion seal protectors you see on ebay sometimes usually listed under M37 parts. it clamps around the yoke and covers the seal area from taking hits by debris.
