Your thoughts are exactly how I feel when it comes to saws. Don't make the mistake of judging a saw by the size. You need to base your decision by looking at the CC's of the engine.

Case in point,I bought a Stihl 192C for limbing and anything under 16 inches. To look at the saw, it is pretty small and runs over $300.00. The motor is the SAME size as other saws they make but the weight isn't. The bigger saws are the same price or LESS and dealer said they don't sell as well for that reason. It's more of an arborist saw I guess. I can saw all day with it and not get tired which is a BIG plus to me. I break out the MS660 once it's limbed out and let it lay on the big stuff.

Stihl makes a true arborist saw that is just about the same size and I believe it's model number is 200T. It runs around $550.00 but it's a VERY powerful saw for the size.

I just got back from my local dealer which I guess I'm blessed to have. They had over 20 saws on display and 2 great mechanics. I had a buddy's saw that the oiler quit working. Did the normally tank flush but still nothing. Took it in and asked for the mechanic I know. He said 7 times out of 10 you can fix it by spinning the sprocket backwards with an air hose thus displacing a dirt flake. He then did it himself a couple of times and it worked fine.(no charge)

He even went on to tell me that there's a special tool to get the sprocket off(to hold the piston) if that didn't work but you can just put the piston at the bottom of the stroke and fill the cylinder with a good quality starter rope. Then you'll be able to get it off with no damage. I knew never to use an air rachet but that tip will serve me well in the future.

Good dealers are out there and that's why I buy my equipment THERE. Kevin
