The Braden Winch Co. started in Tulsa as a steel company providing the oil industry with tools. During WW2 they supplied winches for Military vehicles. I have seen MU-2 stamped winches with no numbers at all. My guess, the number 10 distinquishes the 10,000 pound from the 8,000 pound winch since they look the same. In 1946 Braden relocated to Broken Arrow where they are today, and since they were now supplying winches for civilian trucks, they incorporated the build year in the numbering sheme.
