I have been working with aluminum tubing for over 35 years in aircraft and if the white stuff INSIDE isn't corrosion, someone should tell the FAA about it.Aluminum is not like stainless-- if it is left outside it corrodes and pretty quickly. You might be thinking of ALCLAD aluminum parts. That is a coating of pure aluminum applied to the outside of the parts and it is not an alloy, but a very soft coating and if the metal is scratched, that clad is gone, and intergranular corrosion will begin.
