This has been happening ever since 1980, that I know of. Every magazine article I have ever read that was written on the subject of our trucks (aside from the Power Wagon Advertiser and assorted military collector journals) has contained incorrect information. The attempts made so far at writing books about the trucks have not been much better.

Once the information is out there, it seems to be accepted as fact. There is so little information, and people are hungry enough, that they tend to grasp at, an embrace, what ever they find. I know. I mistakenly believed many things I read early on. It has taken years to purge that missinformation. I am sure there are still many things I believe about these trucks that will eventually prove to be incorrect.

Until some of the heavy hitters in the Power Wagon community come together, pool their resources, and write the difinitive novel, I don't see this kind of missinformation ending anytime soon. It will probably get worse as those who know slowly depart us.
