Unfortunately, painting the truck any color will not hide imperfections. Painting only makes it more pleasant to the eye. I myself have a working truck, and the last thing I want to do is invest $3 or 4K to get a nice paint job only to have it scratch or the sheet metal dented. When I retire the truck - never!, I may consider it. I used Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer for several reasons:

- Cheap.
- Durable.
- Thick coat, will not scratch through to bare metal easy.
- You can get it in a spray can for easy touch up.
- Supports the theme of an "old rusty truck."
- It's lusterless "brownesh drab", which I like.
