Your receipt copy of the U.S.P.S. Money Order has instructions on how to claim for a lost or stolen Money Order. If your local post office can not answer your questions, they can get on the phone and call their supervisors in the next larger office. Don't let them tell you the chain of command stops with them, because it doesn't. Even if the person you speak to is Postmaster, he or she answers to someone higher.
Money Orders are still your best protection. Mail fraud is serious and the Post Office does not take it lightly.
