1956 Powell Sport Wagon hunting/fishing wagon

* Built by the Powell Motor Car Co. (PMC) of Compton, California (Los Angeles).

* Factory built hunting/fishing car. 2 door station wagon. Twin 6' long gun scabbards/fishing pole tubes pull out of the rear fenders. Hidden bait box/storage unit pulls out below the tailgate. Extra large sliding rear windows for hunting/ventilation. Rear seat folds for sleeping. Heavy duty roof rack.

* Less than 40 produced. 7 known to exist. One of two that are complete/ running/driving.

* Brief company history: The Powell brothers started building small motorcycles in the late 30's through the 1940's. Some of which used the single cylinder of the Ford V8 for propulsion! These are highly prized today. During WWII they had several significant government contracts. After the war Powell built a couple prototype motor homes and then set up their factory to produce pickup trucks from 1955 - early 1957 using Plymouth chassis and drivetrain. Around 800 pickups were built. In 1956 less than 40 station wagons were also built. Powell then received another government contract to build USPS delivery vehicles. They ended their careers back where is all started with an off-road mini-bike that was still being advertised in FOUR WHEELER magazine as late as 1969.

* Vehicle condition: California black plate unit. Solid body and chassis. Always garaged in my heated warehouse. Long-time ownership. Plymouth flat-head six runs very strong. Recent hydraulics and lines, exhaust, tires, mechanical work, window gaskets (front/rear), tune-up, etc. Excellent interior and chrome. Paint looks ok from 15' but could stand a respray. I think it would benefit of a color change to red/white, yellow/white, green/white, etc. in my personal opinion. Runs and drives out fine. Shown at many regional events including the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix this summer where it was show stopper.

A truly unique vehicle that is beyond rare. Should be in a museum or part of your collection. Cooler than a Nomad. Rarer than a Tucker. Priced at $45,000. Will listen to serious offers. Additional pics are available to those who are truly interested in purchasing the Powell. Many references available upon request. The unit is immediately available for a third party inspection if desired.

Will be glad to work with your shipper. Possible delivery within 500 miles of Pittsburgh, PA.

Thanks for looking.
