I got a friends '84 W250 and he had 33X12.5-16.5's (dang 16.5's),on it. I had a blasted and painted set of 16.5 steel wheels and found a nice set of 9.50x16.5's, Sears Radial road handler's, mounted and balanced them. Truck sat for a year, then I decided to do the front end and took the tires off and leaned them against the garage. I walked by them the other day and the whole top of one was blown out. I also had a spare Firestone Radial 9.50x16.5 (dang 16.5's) for my Chevy and that did the same thing, I heard that one explode.
I think it's a radial thing.
