A 225 was a good auto engine but never a match for a 300 ford. The 300 was a truck engine was bullet proof with 7 large main journal bearings, extremely heavy duty and available with fuel injection. It never was known for the problems you discribe. The overworked 225 killed many a dodge truck prematurely
