I've pondered the effects of rebuilding the transfer case 'backwards' to get a 1.96:1 multiplication vs the designed reduction.

Sorta like running a 2.97 rearend ....

Surely the stock 230 isn't up to it, and as you mention, the rest of the system is pretty iffy above 60 mph anyhow.

I've got a spare transfer case if anybody's feeling frisky. <g>
