The original seals as you may know are 3/4" thick with the felt wiper. The theory is great, but the design execution is for crap. Hell, if you want, I'll send you free of charge two brand new standard seal assemblies. This is the "good" rubber Garlock design (no leather) that only pisses a 6" puddle in a week. With good yokes!
Pull a seal and go to your local bearing house. For $10 you'll get a modern two lip design that are about half the thickness of the original and actually work.
