The benefits of a performance cam are nulified by poor breathing or exhaust. If you'd like to get a little more exotic than the dual carb intake, make three tubing intakes with flanges out of stamped 90 degree weld bends which are used on seamless steam pipe. You will just have to see them and their many variations to appreciate what can be done with them.I once duplicated a stock 251 exhaust manifold with them.It looked better, flowed better except the heat riser was too much of a challenge at that time so I excluded it.
Anyway build these and use three 1-bbl carbs. The linkage for odd setups can be had or put together from linkage suppliers. Headers will top off the airflow situation.Spark,as hot and strong as reasonable thru whatever means you find to suit you.Remove the stock units and use electic fuel pump, water pump, radiator fan. This will add to the hp increase.Head and engine design give limit to the compression that can be obtained without resorting to exotic machining on the head and dometop shaped pistons. If sealed power rings are available by all means use them to secure as much compression as possible.
In my old 40's auto book they show a flathead 6 using a turbo shaped(empeller) supercharger driven off the front eng. belt.Flatheads are why these things were developed to add performance to low compression engines so why hasn't someone with the time and MONEY tried to turbo-charge a flathead-6 ? I guess most of us either don't have the money or already have too many irons in the fire as it is! Hope I helped or gave some food for thought. Goodluck and pass on any good info we can use !
