My unlce has a m-37 w/cargo box and huge DC generator of unknown vintage rotting on our farm in central kentucky. I spent untold afternoons rolling around under her and gawking at all the beefy components. I have a vaque childhood memory of him anchoring the beast with a tractor auger, and using the winch to straigten a huge tobacco barn. Unfortunately 25 years of neglect has left the body at a total loss, and brakes, steering and steering are beyond repair. I was bumbling around the internet today looking for diesel retrofits for my land cruiser and happened upon Charles Aarons extremely useful conversions page. This got me really thinking. Here are my questions. Where can i get gaskets, seals and bearings for the M-37 axles and transfercase? and can I cut out the center portion of a driveplate on the front axle to make (in effect) free-wheeling hubs? Can disk brakes be retrofitted? if not, where can I get drum brake hardware.
