The truck I had the pleasure of replacing the core on had a recent engine update at another shop. It looked like the guy had stressed one of the cores plastic tubes at the bracket that braces it inside the HVAC housing. It was a very small crack but enough to stink up the cab. The aftermarket replacement was all metal.
