This is regarding my 1948 Dodge PW

Under a load, it sounds like a growling sound coming from the engine area but I don't think it is the engine as we have gone through it. I think it may be the clutch. In neutral it sounds normal but under a load with full throttle it makes a very loud growling noise that one can't even talk over it.
For the last ten years, at least, there has been no free play in the clutch. It is either in or out and I have tried adjusting it but can't adjust it any more.

Could the clutch problem be the cause of this noise? or worn pressure plate, pilot bushing, throwout bearing, etc. Any thoughts or suggestions to diagnosis it better.

I will be replacing the clutch anyways but I want to rule out anything else.

How hard is it to pull the transmission? I have a rebuilt one to replace the old one. I am thinking about putting my rebuilt transfer case at the same time.
Any tip, tricks, etc.?

I hope to fix it soon so that if Snow happens again this year for us I can use it. My boy is turning three soon and hasn't been for a ride in over a year.

Thanks,
Chris Becker
