I dont gas weld, dont even know how so I cant help on your welding problem. But consider getting a quart or whatever amount you need of
Polyester resin or WEST Epoxy resin and "ROLL" on a nice thick layer. Let her cure and that should stop all leaks. You could even do it inside and outside.
