... throttle return spring installed on the wrong hanger. Held the throttle open, not closed. Start-up was a surprise: the engine governor kept catching it, then it revved back up, took me a few seconds to figure out what was going on.

Then, another time, I was 4 wheeling in the Flat Fender, and was on a particularly hairy place, with the suspension and frame really flexed - and the throttle jammed on full! Shut the engine down and looked under the hood, and the linkage was jammed solid. Had to use the starter motor to move off of the spot so the frame would unflex - end of problem.
