NIASE is the National Assn for Service Excellence. Later shortened their name to ASE, I guess they got tired of being called Nazis. There is no national government certification for mechanics in the U.S., so this outfit was founded so consumers know mechanics have SOME kind of knowledge. The boss signs off on some kind of experience, and the mechanic spends a couple Saturdays taking tests. NOT open book, knowing page number of Crouse won't help.
