As stated a cotter pin holds on the screen unit. Do not think its designed to come apart but I seem to remember a few tabs that I was able to lift and get one apart this was on a car 49 Plymouth it was about 6 years ago so could be wrong about the tabs
But what I do remember very well is the pan was a gunk mess like yours when I cleaned the pan I found about a dozen pin holes in the pan not leaking the crud was blocking it from leaking. I jb welded the holes and it held for years.
