Transfer case levers and shaft

I need to know two things.
1st, how much play should there be in the shaft that both transfer levers are placed on. Mine seem to have fairly excessive play, but mind you the trans tunnel has been removed.
2nd, both levers have been bent and twisted to accomadate an oversized heater. I have since replaced the heater with the original type. I am now going to straighted the levers, but I need to know if they were straight when produced or if the had a slight bend at the base of the levers?
Actually I have another question or two.
Is the speedometer cable a bitch to remove at the end of the tranny and how difficult is it to replace the hand brake cable?
