Dont get ethanol and methanol confused. They are putting ethanol in gasoline now at most pumps. E85 is 85% ethanol 15% gasoline. Ethanol is "moon shine".

We all are experiencing in one form or another older gas engines not running as good as they once did with the 10% ethanol blends at the pump now. If you jet the carb up about 30% or so and plan to run E85 they will run just fine and usually cooler. Once you do this you should plan to keep running the E85. Going back to gasoline will make the engine run bad again. Its simply tuning the engine to run with the fuel. Going to E85 is not gonna create a special high powered engine. Its gonna lower your fuel costs as E85 last I saw here was about $1.80 a gallon vs $2.50 a gal for gas.

While all this talk about superchargers and stuff on a flathead is fun to talk about its not very practical as the flatheads design limits the air flow thru the engine. The engine is what it is and nothing more. Thats the neat thing about the old trucks. I run out of gear before I run out of engine in my old 47. Why would I want to pump up the engines performance any?
