I have been replacing a lot of fuel pumps, accelerator pumps in my old vehicles. I'm not ready to blame the ethanol. I think the quality of replacement parts has gotten really poor these days. There are lots of things in fuel that can be hard on inferior parts, and sitting without regular movement also causes a lot fo the problems I see.

The food cost thing is totally bunk. We produce more volume of food, and grain commodities are cheaper today than they have ever been (adjusted for inflation), and they make up a very small part of the cost of retail food process.

Ethanol returns twice as much energy as it takes to produce.

In many cases, the public money that goes into an energy subsidy like ethanol replaces and existing agricultural subsidy. In this way, it supports two industries for the same cost as one.
