I hope you're right. The concept is a good one. Maybe I've just seen a lot of bad applications. What I see is advertisements claiming that something is "powder coated" as if that's better than paint, and yet when you get it, it fades, cracks, peels, and rusts sooner than a decent old baked-on enamel paint job would. Even if those were poor quality jobs and good powder coating is better than paint, for wheels and lock rings, any coating is going to get chipped off when you change tires, so a simple paint that can be touched up with a brush out of a can seems better to me.
