we have plenty of trucks with FACTORY powder coated frames and parts. they see tons of use and abuse. done properly it is as durable as Marty states. durable and hard to remove. We also have file cabinets in our office that were once black. they are now grey. a powdercoat type finish was applied in place without heat. it is called electrostatic paint and is similar to the pc process. durable enough for inside office use. the eastwood hobby type powdercoat is like the eastwood tank sealing crap. hobby quality results. put your parts in the oven!!! take a gas tank to a renu shop and see the diff between pro and hobby. paul, i believe that the folks that make your bumpers do not employ an industrial quality powdercoat process and hence your problem. its a cost game and a properly done powdercoat job likely puts the bumper price out of site. there are marine parts (armstrong brackets for one) that use aluminum that is powdercoated inside and out. they survive in below waterline service. there is no way paint would survive in this application. just like paint, powdercoat is all about the prep, the product and the application.
