Here's the answer - throw it away, it's not used in the MC. Actually, if you had a bad valve seat at the front of the cylinder, you might be able to use it.

On your DC, those parts, if they are tappered are probably gear teeth. All pins are straight. Since you have six holes, your case has been rebuilt and what you found are pieces of what previously broke. Re-torque the ring gear bolt nuts/bearing caps nuts before installing the unit.
