The side gear washers are a fibrous material, mine were okay, I think most disintigrate. The best solution i know of is to buy brass replacements from bob stahl, veteran vehicles -(508)384-7698. If you are in a big hurry I have a set that were intended for my rear axle but then I bought the ARB.
