I wish the govment would get off of the whole hangup with hemp being lumped in with marijuana. From what I can tell, hemp would be a viable alternative or at least addition to supply without affecting a feedstock (I am believer that soybeans are not really intended for human consumption) crop. Hemp also has a use for almost every part of the plant and can be used to produce both ethanol (from the core pulp) and biodiesel (from the seed). Canada has been extracting the oils for some time and you can import hemp oil, just not the plant. I think that it would also help smaller farmers as it grows in marginal soil and does not require much fertilizer and almost no pseticide. Heck, you can't get rid of the stuff back here, it grows everywhere and is green as ever even when everything around it is dried up and brown.
