See my other response. If the IP is an actual website with a registered Domain Name it should show in the Whois databases. It doesn't. Not the way it's supposed to be.

I don't have a problem with Joe publishing the address. You really should have some kind of a firewall on your connection anyway.

All IP addreesses are supposed to be a matter of public record and all information that goes with them is available to anyone that wants to take the time to harvest it. IPs not assigned to a domain name and provided by an Internet provider require more work but can be found by contacting the provider. There is no "Do Not Call" on the internet and it's hard hide unless you are behind somebody that is not following the rules.

Your email address is a lot more secure than your IP, like I said there aren't supposed to be any "do not call" or "unlisted numbers" in the IP world. No IP, no response to your request for info, I.E. "open this link", the guy on the other end has to know where to send his response. Every packet of info, practically every key stroke you send out has your IP on it. Your IP is who you are, your electronic address or however you want to define it.

I have 6 to 10 computers sub-netted under my IP address and you can't see which one I'm on right now but there are people out there that could packet rip it and tell you. You can't be on the internet and hide unless you have a fair amount of cash and want to get tricky. Secure sites like Ebay and such send you encryption instructions and your reply is very hard (but not impossible) to crack but does have your IP on it.
